High Stim vs Low Stim Pre-Workout: Why Smart Lifters Use Both

GET FKD · 350mg Caffeine vs GET PMPD · 85mg Caffeine

Everyone focuses on the amount of caffeine in a pre-workout, but that single number doesn't tell you everything you need to know about a pre-workout formula.

The reality is that relying on one high-stim product for every training session builds tolerance over time, disrupts your sleep on late training days, and eventually leaves you chasing a feeling you stopped getting months ago. And most people who've been told that low-stim means weak have never actually seen a low-stim product built to perform, because most brands have never bothered to make one.

We built two pre-workouts on purpose. GET FKD is the high-stim option and GET PMPD is the low-stim option, both held to the same standard of clinical dosing and full transparency, but designed for completely different jobs.

This piece breaks down what's in each formula, when to use them, and why rotating between the two is one of the simplest upgrades you can make for long-term training performance.

GET FKD: Built for the Days That Demand Everything

There are sessions where everything has to be on point. Heavy squat day, a PR attempt you've been building toward for weeks, one of those workouts where the weight doesn't care how your morning went. That's what GET FKD was designed for.

You're getting roughly 350mg of total caffeine per serving, with 300mg anhydrous hitting fast and 50mg DiCaffeine Malate sustaining the energy so it doesn't fall off mid-session. But stimulant on its own just creates jitters, which is why the rest of the formula is built to convert that energy into real, usable output.

Energy

350mg Total Caffeine

300mg anhydrous for the initial hit, plus 50mg Infinergy™ for sustained energy that doesn't crash halfway through your working sets.

Focus

350mg Alpha GPC · 1,500mg L-Tyrosine

Real cognitive support so your brain locks in with the same intensity as your body, especially when the weight gets heavy and form starts to matter most.

Smooth Edge

300mg L-Theanine

Rounds out the caffeine curve so you feel dialed in instead of scattered and anxious. Energy with control.

Endurance

4,000mg Beta Alanine · 6,000mg L-Citrulline

Clinical doses that buffer lactic acid and drive blood flow, giving you more reps before the burn shuts you down.

Performance

2,500mg Betaine · 1,500mg Taurine

Power output and cellular hydration support working underneath every other ingredient in the formula.

Absorption

50mg AstraGin® · 30mg Huperzine A

AstraGin® enhances nutrient uptake while Huperzine A supports acetylcholine levels for sustained mental clarity.

Worth noting: GET FKD delivers a full 30 servings per tub. Not a "40 serving" label where the fine print recommends taking two scoops. One scoop, full dose, every time.

GET PMPD: Full Performance at a Fraction of the Stimulant

This is where the supplement industry consistently drops the ball. When most companies try to reduce the stimulant load, they gut the rest of the formula along with it, leaving you with flavored water that technically says "pre-workout" on the label. Or they remove caffeine entirely and sell you a pump product that's missing half the ingredients you actually need to train well.

GET PMPD takes the opposite approach. It runs at 85mg of caffeine, about a cup of coffee, while carrying a performance profile that's actually stronger than GET FKD in the pump and hydration department.

Pump

7,000mg L-Citrulline

A full gram more than GET FKD, pushing maximum nitric oxide production because the pump is the entire point of this product.

Volume

3,000mg GlycerPump™

Exclusive to GET PMPD. Pulls water into muscle cells for a harder, fuller pump that sticks around well after your last set.

Hydration

220mg Sodium · 100mg Potassium

Over 4x the sodium content of GET FKD, designed to support hydration during the kind of high-volume pump work this formula was made for.

Clean Energy

85mg Caffeine

Just enough to flip the switch on your system without taxing it. You can train at 6pm and still fall asleep at a normal hour.

Focus

200mg Alpha GPC · 1,500mg L-Tyrosine

Mental clarity built on real nootropic support rather than caffeine doing a convincing impression of focus.

Endurance

3,200mg Beta Alanine · 2,500mg Betaine

Clinical endurance and power doses that don't get dialed back just because the stimulant did.

85mg
Caffeine Per Serving — About One Cup of Coffee

This is what most people miss: GET PMPD puts 85mg caffeine next to 7g L-Citrulline, 3g GlycerPump™, and 3.2g Beta Alanine on a fully transparent label. Most brands force you to pick between low stimulant and real performance, and we didn't think that was a choice anyone should have to make.

GET FKD vs GET PMPD: Full Ingredient Comparison

Both formulas share the same foundation of clinically dosed performance ingredients, but each one is specialized for a different training context. Every dose is printed on the label because that's how it should work.

Why You Should Rotate Between High and Low Stim

Caffeine tolerance isn't bro-science. It's well-documented pharmacology. Your adenosine receptors adapt to consistent high doses, and that 350mg hit that used to light you up eventually barely registers after months of daily use. Most people respond by either taking more or just accepting that pre-workout "doesn't really work anymore," and neither of those is a real solution.

The smarter approach is to rotate. Use GET FKD on the days that call for max intensity and use GET PMPD for everything else. Your caffeine sensitivity stays intact, both products keep doing their job, and you never need one of those miserable two-week cold-turkey stim breaks that kill your training momentum.

Think of it like gearing a car. You don't drive in sixth gear through a parking lot, and you don't stay in second on the highway. You match the gear to the situation, and pre-workout should work the same way.

What Rotating Actually Gets You

  • Your high-stim days stay effective. When your receptors aren't getting hit with 350mg every single session, GET FKD continues to deliver the way it's supposed to on the days you actually need it most.
  • Better sleep quality. 85mg clears your system significantly faster than 350mg, and if you train in the afternoon or evening, this alone makes a measurable difference in recovery.
  • No more forced stim breaks. Instead of going cold turkey and dragging through a week of foggy, flat sessions, you're managing your intake in real time so the edge never fully disappears.
  • More intentional training. Choosing your pre-workout based on the session naturally leads to better programming. Heavy compound day calls for FKD, pump and volume work calls for PMPD, and the whole approach gets sharper.
  • Room for your nervous system to recover. Running at maximum stimulant output six days a week for months straight isn't toughness, it's diminishing returns with extra steps. Cycling gives your CNS the space it needs without taking away the tools you want.
Pro Tip

A solid starting point is GET FKD on 2-3 of your heaviest sessions per week and GET PMPD for the rest. Adjust based on how you're actually feeling rather than falling into autopilot, because the whole point is being intentional about your stimulant intake.

When Low-Stim Is the Better Call

GET PMPD isn't a watered-down version of GET FKD. It's a different formula built from the ground up for different training situations, and there are plenty of scenarios where it flat-out makes more sense.

Evening Training

If you're hitting the gym at 5, 6, or 7pm, 350mg of caffeine at that hour is going to have you staring at the ceiling at midnight. At 85mg, you get enough to show up sharp without wrecking the sleep where your actual progress happens.

Pump & Volume Days

High-rep hypertrophy work runs on blood flow and muscular endurance, not a jacked-up nervous system. The extra gram of L-Citrulline and 3g of GlycerPump™ in GET PMPD were specifically designed for this kind of session.

Caffeine Sensitivity

Genetics play a real role in how people metabolize caffeine, and some are on medications that interact with it. A fully dosed pre-workout at 85mg means you're not forced to choose between performance and how your body handles stimulants.

Active Recovery Days

Lighter sessions, mobility work, and easy conditioning still benefit from performance ingredients without the full stim load. GET PMPD keeps the foundation working while matching the intensity of the day.

You Already Had Coffee

Two cups of coffee plus 350mg of caffeine puts you well north of 500mg for the day, which isn't a performance strategy so much as reckless math. 85mg from GET PMPD keeps your daily total in a reasonable range.

Tolerance Reset Weeks

Instead of dropping pre-workout entirely and white-knuckling through flat sessions for two weeks, swap to GET PMPD. You're still getting every performance ingredient at clinical doses while letting your caffeine receptors recalibrate.

Straight Talk

If you've reached the point where two scoops of a high-stim product barely registers, you don't need something stronger. You need a tolerance reset, and that's not weakness, it's awareness. GET PMPD makes that reset a lot easier to get through without losing training quality.

Why Real Low-Stim Pre-Workouts Barely Exist

If you walk into any supplement retailer right now and try to find a low-stim pre-workout with clinical performance doses across the board, you're going to see the problem immediately. The options aren't there.

The industry has split into two lanes: full-send stimulant at 300mg and up, or zero stimulant entirely. The "stim-free pump formula" shelf technically exists, but those products drop the caffeine and then quietly strip out half the performance profile along with it. You end up choosing between being wired or being under-dosed, and that's a false choice created by brands that don't want to invest in solving the problem.

The reason is straightforward. Low-stim is harder to formulate well. When you pull back the stimulant, every other ingredient has to carry its weight for the product to actually perform. The pump needs to be real, not label decoration. The focus has to come from genuine nootropic compounds rather than a caffeine buzz doing a convincing impression of concentration. And the endurance ingredients need to be at clinical doses, not just technically present.

Most brands skip that investment. A stripped-down stim-free product is cheaper to manufacture and easier to market with pump-focused branding, or they just keep releasing high-stim variations and pretend the gap doesn't exist.

We built GET PMPD because we thought the gap was unacceptable. Pairing 85mg caffeine with 7g L-Citrulline, 3g GlycerPump™, 3.2g Beta Alanine, and full nootropic support on a fully transparent label isn't something that happens by accident. It takes a deliberate decision to build a product that performs on its own terms instead of leaning on stimulants to carry the experience.

We're one of the few brands in the space that committed to a real low-stim formula inside a performance-first brand. Not a non-stim afterthought, not a "caffeine-free" version with the profile stripped back, but a purpose-built low-stim pre-workout that stands as an equal next to the high-stim version.

GET PMPD isn't the compromise option. It's the other half of the system.

Two Products, One Training System

The strongest version of your training doesn't come from a single product. It comes from understanding when to reach for which one and building that rotation into how you approach your week.

GET FKD is the accelerator: PR days, heavy compounds, and the sessions where you need your nervous system fully engaged. Roughly 350mg of caffeine backed by clinical focus and endurance support built to match.

GET PMPD is the foundation: volume work, evening sessions, pump-focused training, tolerance management, and every session that doesn't call for full stim output. 85mg of caffeine alongside pump and hydration ingredients that the high-stim formula doesn't even carry.

Together, they solve a problem the rest of the industry has been content to ignore: how to use pre-workout consistently over the long term without building tolerance, disrupting your sleep, or taking forced breaks that set your training back weeks at a time.

Both carry a fully transparent label. Both are clinically dosed. One scoop, full dose, nothing hidden. Different engine, same standard.
